Yes that's right, there's a need for a wedding dress.
The best news of all - the wedding dress is for ME!
My darling FIANCÉE proposed in the most loevly spot yesterday, in the middle of the Molesworth Station which is the largest farm in NZ. I turned around from taking this photo to him down on one knee.
So now I need a wedding dress. I am seriously considering buying a dress off the likes of Lightinthebox.com or DHgate.com. Custom made to my size. And I can always get it altered at work if any alterations are needed.
But there are so many options to choose from.
I haven't been able to find any patterns I really like, that would be what I want in a wedding dress, and right now I don't have a lot of time to sew anyway.
Now we are holidaying in Hanmer Springs NZ until tomorrow. It's bliss, we played mini golf this morning and then spent several hours at the local thermal spring pools. I am now looking a bit of a cross between Snookie and an Oompa Loompa.
If anyone has bought from DH gate or lightinthebox I'd be very interested to hear about your experience.
Congratulations!

My friend who has a 60" hip ordered a custom-made floor length gown from Light in the Box. It's gorgeous but didn't her hips. The dress was OK as it was very gathered...it was the lining that didn't fit so I had to piece in another 6" or so, on both sides. There was no way it was ever going to fit her as it came.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
Oh forgot to say...it came in 2 weeks. Really fast!
Congratulations! I think you should make your own wedding dress. You are certainly talented enough!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I can't wait to see the dress progress. :-)
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! Congratulations! Oh my that's so exciting! \o/
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I'm sitting here grinning like a maniac. So happy for you. :D
Congratulations! He proposed in just the right way :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks guys. I'm so very excited! Starting to sink in a bit now. At work today(which I might add is going wonderfully at the moment!)I dealt with a lot of ladies who's daughters are getting married or who were buying things to make veils etc, so was great to talk to others.
ReplyDeleteThe wedding dress is still so puzzling. I am seriously toying with the idea of getting a patternmaker to make my pattern for me, so I can sew it
I just swung by your blog on a cruise through my bookmarked sewing blogs, and found this news! Very exciting for you. Congratulations, and I hope you have fun planning the wedding (and sewing your dress!) as well as your life together :D
